PopFoam can be custom compounded based on your application, however we do have many engineering compounds available as follows:

General Purpose
PopFoam’s general purpose foams are available in various hardnesses and densities. Our general purpose foams are compounded of EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate)/PO (Polyolefin) microcellular raw materials to serve a wide variety of products and markets.

Ultra Soft Foam
Popfoams ultra soft foams serve a particular market where comfort, sealing properties, light weight and protection are required. The foams have been developed to a hardness of 20 Asker C, however we advise to contact your PopFoam engineers to further discuss your application as there are tolerance issues when mating to other components.

Medical Foam
PopFoam’s chemists have developed medical approved foams by utilization of Nano Silver in our FDA approved compounds. Nano Silver is a very small particle that offers anti bacterial, anti fungal, disinfectant, non toxic and anti static properties. PopFoams medical foams have been tested for anti bacterial properties and found to have a 99.9% reduction rate. Current markets for our medical foams include however not limited to: medical protective devices, recreational protective gear and rehabilitation equipment.

Shock Absorbing Foam
PopFoam’s microcellular closed cell shock absorbing foams are an excellent choice for personal and industrial protection. Examples would be orthopedic footwear, recreational protection, toys, helmet liners, exercise equipment, industrial equipment protection, and electronic product protection just to name a few. Our chemists strive to keep on the forefront of technology to fulfill our customer’s market demands, this is just another example of our solution, problem solved!

High Resilience Foam
Our high resilience compounds contain a modifier to allow for a less uniform microcellular structure. The purpose of this is to offer additional support and comfort over long term use. Applications are typically seating surfaces, insoles and industrial protective gear.

Flame Retardant Foams
PopFoam offers a flame retardant grade utilized in furnishings, automotive, construction and industrial applications. These grades also offer a higher heat deflection rate than our standard compounds and available in low sheen for automotive applications.

Fragrance Foams
During the compounding of the foam and with the addition of colorants PopFoam can add fragrance to the compounds with a variety of scents to include, however not limited to; flowers, baby powder, pine and lemon. This added process is available in most of the lower density foams to allow you to further customize your product for a certain market.

Pet Foams
Yes we have something for our best friend! With the demands for high tear strength and chew resistance we have compounded a material that will withstand the conditions for indestructible fun, and yes it floats. Use our custom color compounding and create yourself the new ultimate pet toy.

The Opening Phase is when the mold half’s separate at a rapid speed and allows the compound to expand to the parts final geometry. This rapid opening is accomplished by means of an accumulator on the equipments clamping system. Please review the photo at the right, the foam component next to the tooling shows a typical expansion rate, nearly double the size of the tooling cavity. (I project you designers are already thinking)…

The Post Injection Phase is when the product is removed from the tooling. Due to the elevated procession temperatures the product leaves the tooling extremely soft and presents an over expanded ratio. Within this phase the product will conform closely to the products final geometry. Keep in mind these compounds represent excellent insulating properties; therefore we must progressively cool the product in precisely controlled cooling stations to maintain significant differences between the products internal and externally temperatures. This Post Injection Phase assures the products proper size and dimensional stability. Many foam injection molders skip this key step.
